Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the kind of mobile RPG I keep hoping to find. The story takes its time, introducing a party of misfits one by one, and each of them has a reason for being on the road that pays off later. It's not Shakespeare, but the writing has warmth and the characters bicker in ways that feel human.
Combat is turn-based and built around a stagger system, so you're always weighing whether to burst a weakened enemy or set up a bigger hit next round. Progression is generous without being mindless, and respeccing is cheap enough that experimenting never feels punishing.
My only complaint is the early hours are a little talky. Push through the first chapter and the game blooms into something genuinely good, with side quests that occasionally hit harder than the main plot.
What we liked
- Party members with real personality
- Stagger-based combat that rewards planning
- Cheap respecs encourage experimenting
